Our small group ministries are places you can make the important connections in life. Each Connection group offers prayer, praise, fellowship, ministry, and some great in-depth spiritual conversation. The small groups are designed to help you learn, impact your world, fellowship with others, and evangelize those who are lost. Each of our L.I.F.E. Connection groups are open groups looking to reach out to new people each week. Each small group is broken down into six week periods with short breaks in between each study. Some of the groups may continue to meet during the break. Our summer will be very unique. We will use this time do develop a series of family friendly events spaced throughout the summer months.

 

 In the fall of 2005 we began our first small group on Sunday nights. It was first designed for one more option for people to take advantage of instead of our “normal” Sunday evening services. In time, that first small group grew and became a very viable part of our ministry at First Southern Baptist Church. A young adult small group soon sprang up on Tuesday evenings and has been extremely successful. In the fall of 2007, it was decided to try small groups for a period of six weeks wrapped around and focused on our Fall Revival. It was extremely successful. The feedback we received was extremely positive. In 2008, it was decided to try small groups for one year and see what God would do with them. God is richly blessing this ministry. We are seeing new people involved in discipleship, spiritual growth and an excitement that in contagious. Most of our groups meet on Sunday night. However, there is one group that is meeting on Saturday night and our single young adult group meets on Tuesday evenings. There is L.I.F.E. Connection group for everyone.   

 

There really is no limt to what God can do with this ministry. We are in the planning stage during 2008. We are tracking each small group to see its viability. At the end of 2008, we will decide as a church if we want to make the Sunday Night L.I.F.E. Connections a normal part of our ministry. If early results and response are any indications, the L.I.F.E. Connections groups will be around for many years.

The L.I.F.E. Connection groups are not limited to the “Sunday Evening” time slot. We are going to begin a comprehensive small group studies that will be used in many formats during many various times. Some of the groups will be closed groups which will naturally close. For instance, the Financial Peace University naturally closes after a couple of meetings. A Beth Moore study would naturally close after a few weeks. Our “Sunday Evening” groups will always be open groups hoping to reach out to many people.
